Answer:

One answer to who are Starbucks' competitors is "everybody." Your own kitchen is biggest competitor Starbucks faces on a daily basis!

You can also distinguish based on independent coffee shops, as compared to coffee chains. There are lots of local, independent coffee houses in nearly every city, large and small.

Question:

Most coffee I buy at the grocery store. I'm interested in online coffee stores but haven't tried buying coffee there yet.  Should I buy my coffee locally or on line?

Answer:

We like to support local businesses and think you should, too.

The other good news is that your selection of coffees has increased tremendously at the grocery store, and no doubt you have more coffee roasting businesses in your area. The personal interaction, and ability to hold and smell and talk with someone face to face about the coffee beans they are selling means a lot and I definitely think you should find a local roaster who does good work.

Still, you should not hesitate to shop and buy coffee online. There are a lot of advantages.

Question:

What is the best type of coffee filter to use, paper or metal? Should I use a disposable paper filter or a permanent metal filter? Which makes better coffee, and why are some paper filters white and others are brown?
